BSI rolls out a purely configurative cloud solution at BPN
Identifying and promoting growth-oriented entrepreneurs has been the goal at BPN for 20 years. With local teams, the Swiss foundation has taken on the task of strengthening the middle class on site in Nicaragua, Rwanda, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia through the training of motivated entrepreneurs who seek to foster growth and create jobs. BPN will use BSI’s configurative CRM solution from the cloud in four languages to look after their donors, corporate sponsors and entrepreneurs.
The secret behind a robust economy is its SMEs. They are efficient and flexible, enabling them to adapt to changing market situations more quickly than large companies. That is why BPN, headquartered in Bern, has promoted small businesses for 20 years. While doing so, the foundation builds bridges between Swiss know-how, resources and committed entrepreneurs in developing nations. These businesses develop into a stable SME within four years, offering their employees a professional home and future prospects.
The non-profit organization with a commercial focus has since conducted 1,459 workshops and seminars, promoted 1,265 entrepreneurs and helped create 23,335 jobs. Many BPN entrepreneurs are the best in their industries within their countries. BPN decided to use a professional CRM solution to coordinate the training seminars, to measure their success and to provide targeted information to the corporate sponsors.
“BSI offered us the best price-performance ratio“
Within the scope of a broad-based evaluation, BSI made the short list due to the usability, configurability, the cloud solution, data storage in Switzerland and cost effectiveness. “If each BPN can increase efficiency by just one hour each month through use of BSI CRM, then the system will have already paid off for us,” explained Max Bertschmann, Member of the Executive Board and Head of Marketing & Fundraising at BPN. The professional interaction in combination with solution finding matched to BPN's needs, along with the team's real interest, all impressed BPN.
“In the end, we chose BSI as our CRM partner and since then have been using the solution in Russian, Mongolian, Spanish and English in the five BPN countries we are currently active in.”

The expert for international business development set its sights on satisfied donors, satisfied customers and especially satisfied users. “BSI shall simplify our employees' daily work by offering them a central tool in their native language and providing an optimal basis for automated training and event management – activities, which besides reporting, had to be carried out manually in the past, which was a very time-consuming task,“ explained Max Bertschmann, who added: “With BSI CRM, we are now able to gather consistent data at the touch of a button, which we can then map, interpret and process. BSI CRM will also smooth the way for the measurement of our effectiveness“.
With BSI CRM, BPN connects the fundraising world with the commercial focus in the individual countries – “as a digital assistant for our donors, sponsored entrepreneurs as well as our staff and coaches, who will save much time when it comes to customer care, organization and evaluation”, says Max Bertschmann
“Proud of our customer BPN”
BPN is an interesting customer for BSI in several respects: BPN uses BSI CRM as a purely configurative cloud solution in six countries in the respective national language. BPN is also the first NPO to choose BSI CRM. “We are very pleased to have gained BPN as a customer. The organization connects donors with dedicated entrepreneurs, supplies a transfer of knowhow and thereby contributes to economic stability in many countries. We are proud that our CRM is now used from Nicaragua to Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan to Rwanda. We are pleased to make a small contribution to the BPN success story, and hope that BSI CRM will soon also be used in other countries,” summed up Christoph Rahm, BSI Project Manager.
As a non-profit organization, BPN is dedicated to promoting talent in developing countries by “helping people to help themselves”. In other words: through targeted coaching, business training and a sustainable entrepreneurial network, and the granting of a loan, if needed.
